Finding the perfect rental property can be a tough
process whether it is an apartment, home, or
condo. One of the main reasons renting is so
difficult is because of the many factors to
consider, such as price and location. In addition,
if your current lease is ending soon, you may have
a shorter time frame to find your next home. The
element of time can add pressure to an already
stressful process. Follow the steps below to make
your renting process as smooth as possible.
First and foremost, you must find out when your
current lease is ending and what date you are
planning on moving. Once you know your moving
date, you can begin to look at properties within
the price range and location you are looking for.
In my opinion, I think it is best to look for your
new rental about 2 months before your moving date
to be safe. This way you can check out a lot of
different rentals without pressure. Also, when you
find the rental you like, you can usually sign a
lease to hold the rental in advance. By doing
this, you know that your rental is secure, the
contract is complete, and you have nothing left to
worry about!
How much are you looking to pay per month? You
should choose a price that is within your budget
and affordable. Do not sign a lease for a rental
property that you cannot afford! Once you sign the
lease, you are indebted to the landlord. The worst
thing you can do is get into a legal dispute
because you are having a tough time coming up with
the monthly rent payments. This will really put
you in a money pit.
Now that you know how much you are looking to
spend per month and you have a moving date, now
you need to consider where you want to move. What
factors are important to you in this decision? Do
you want a rental close to work, close to school,
near entertainment, in the city, or in the
suburbs? Figure out what is most important to you
when deciding on a location and look for rentals
in that area first!
What type of property are you looking for? Do you
have a family and you are looking for a home? Are
you a bachelor looking for a sheik apartment? It
depends on you and what you are looking for!
What types of amenities are you looking for? Do
you want a rental that is furnished, has a pool,
clubhouse, fully-equipped kitchen, wireless
internet, and cable TV? Make sure you write down a
list of amenities you are looking in your future
home.
It’s important to consider all of these factors
when looking for a rental. Write down your answers
to all of these factors. Then, consider which
factor is most important to you. Is it price,
location, the type of property, or the amenities?
Let this factor drive your decision when looking
for a rental. This will ultimately lead to a
successful rental process and happiness in your
new home. Good luck! |
